PYOA Adventure Series – Meet Charlee
Our newest Flight Outfitters Navigator Charlee was born into a family of aviators. In fact, Charlee and our founder Mark Glassmeyer are cousins, and were each inspired by their grandfather’s WWII experiences in the South Pacific.
Charlee has an insatiable love of travel, and aviation is typically a part of her adventures. She has traveled the California coast flying in the Goodyear Blimp, taken a twin engine Cessna across the jungles of Belize, and explored the Serengeti across the African plains in a hot air balloon. She is currently prepping for a fall trip to Costa Rica, where she will work with an animal rescue team to scan the jungles via private plane looking for animals in need.
Most recently Charlee traveled to Hawaii, and gave Flight Outfitters a glimpse of her trip.
Charlee writes: Hawaii is one of my favorite destinations that never disappoints and allows me to try new experiences.
Last month, I spent two weeks on the Big Island with my extended family on the Kona Coast. Using my Flight Outfitters Waypoint Backpack as a carry on allowed me to bring all of my airplane essentials and snacks for the five hour flight. I always request the window seat and anxiously await the first sight of the islands after hours overlooking the vast Pacific Ocean. Once landed, I grabbed my Seaplane Duffel, which was the perfect size for 2 weeks of clothes, hats, sunscreen and diving essentials. Whenever I travel, my goal is to always make the most of each day, and find as many new adventures as possible. This trip included a night dive with manta rays, horse back riding on a Hawaiian farm, hiking to black sand beaches, snorkeling inside caves, and soaring above volcanoes in a helicopter. Hawaii is best explored from the air to truly grasp the enormity of the landscape, mountains and water falls.
Charlee will be at the Flight Outfitters booth at Airventure 2021, creating a video of the Flight Outfitters experience at #OSH21.
